The Node.js/Express backend powering Haven. It handles authentication, properties, leases, maintenance requests, notifications, subscriptions, and AI-powered lease text extraction.
DescriptionHaven Server is the backend that powers the Haven property management platform. Built with Node.js and Express and backed by MongoDB, it exposes the controllers and routes for managing properties, tenants, leases, maintenance requests, performance analytics, notifications, and user subscriptions.
The server includes AI-powered automation, using a Python script integrated with Groq's API to extract text from PDF lease agreements. Supporting services cover media uploads via Cloudinary, email notifications via Resend, payment processing through Flutterwave, and real-time communication over WebSockets with Socket.io.
Security and extensibility are built in, with JWT and Google OAuth authentication, role-based access control, and middleware for authorization, cookie management, and external API requests. The codebase runs locally against MongoDB and is ready for cloud deployment with MongoDB Atlas. Testing frameworks and utility scripts help keep it reliable.Technologies
